Garden City

Over spring break Malachi and I decided to go visit my sister in Garden City. We left Saturday morning and came home late Sunday night. Six months ago my twin sister moved there. I wasn't so thrilled about it but you go where the jobs are. Spring break is the second time that I have been there to visit and stayed the week. This time the weather was nicer and we were able to get out and explore this town with a lot of history. I can say that I am happy that she is able to call it home and a place I love to visit.

There are many different attractions in this town with tumbleweed blowing everywhere. They have a train depot where you can catch a ride on the Amtrak, they have a really nice zoo with quite a history and a great selection of animals to look at and feed. The ducks were are favorite. If you have food to feed them they will follow you and even eat out of your hands. Its quite comical how they follow you. Its not just one its several.  They have a Garden City museum that will tell you all about the history of Garden City. They also have this little area where you can put on old time clothes and take pictures. Jennifer and I did this and it was fun. I love some of those old clothes that they wore back in the day and I loved playing dress up when I was little. Loved this. Can't wait to go back and do it again. Silly I know but its true.

The the land is flat and dusty, the wind is a little to be desired, the smell sometimes can be overwhelming and the winters can be brutal but if you look past all of that you see a town that was founded by few and grew to be many and prospered into a neat little town. So if you are ever out that way look and enjoy some of the Kansas history its worth it.
